Superintendent of Schools

Dr. Roland Hernandez was named Corpus Christi Independent School District’s Superintendent in 2014.

 Dr. Hernandez came to Corpus Christi from the Waco Independent School District, where he served as Superintendent from 2006-2010.  He served as Deputy Superintendent of the Tyler Independent School District from 2003-2006 and the Belton Independent School District from 2001-2002. Other campus and district-level experiences include teaching, coaching and campus-level administrative positions in the Spring Branch and Angleton Independent School Districts.

 In addition to being a school administrator, Dr. Hernandez served as Administrative Assistant to the Associate Commissioner in the Division of Accountability at the Texas Education Agency, Program Coordinator for the University of Texas at Austin’s prestigious Charles A. Dana Center, and State Director of the National Assessment of Educational Progress for the Texas Education Agency and US Department of Education.

 Dr. Hernandez earned his Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Administration from the University of Texas at Austin, a master’s degree from the University of Houston at Clear Lake, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas State University.


Dr. Hernandez and his wife, Dr. Cynthia Hernandez, have two children, Lauren and Leyton.

Senior Executive Administrative Assistant

Sue joined CCISD in August 2002 and has served as Senior Executive Administrative Assistant to Dr. Hernandez for the last 7 years. 

Sue has thoroughly enjoyed working for CCISD. She believes that her 38 years experience in the secretarial field has spring boarded her to success in her position.  

Sue has two daughters, Karen Daniel who resides in Houston, and Katherine Alba who resides and teaches in Pasadena.  Sue feels blessed to have her 11 year old granddaughter Ava, and 1 year old grandson Merrick.  Sue will be a grandma again in March 2018.

Sue's hobbies include raising chickens and collecting her colored eggs.  She enjoys her fur babies and traveling to the Houston area to spend time with family.



Senior Executive Administrative Assistant

Jerri Osberg has been employed with the District since 2009. Since coming to the District she has served as Administrative Assistant to the Director of Magnet Programs and Administrative Assistant to various Specialists in the office of Special Programs.  

Jerri now serves as the Senior Executive Administrative Assistant to the Board of Trustees.  In her personal time, she loves cooking, cycling and spending time at the beach, reading and boogie boarding with her husband.  She has a beautiful daughter currently serving in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and attending college.
