Excitement and school spirit were in full force as Corpus Christi ISD cheer teams showcased their talent, energy, and dedication at the UIL Spirit State Competition.
Cheer teams competed in categories highlighting crowd-leading, fight song, and band chant. The road to the competition involved months of practice, perfecting stunts, cheer and band dances that highlighted their school's unique spirit.
Coach Camryn Caylor at King High School reflected on the team's determination.
"What stood out to me was the team’s incredible determination to give it their all and leave everything on the mat. It was beyond anything we had done in practice or at any showcase. They truly gave it their best, and it was inspiring to witness."
Senior Lexi Rodriguez, who cheers for King High School, described the competition as a rewarding milestone.
"It feels like a huge accomplishment to me because we worked so hard for so long. The few minutes we had on stage felt like the payoff for all that effort. I’m incredibly proud to represent King High School and CCISD."
Beyond the routines, Lexi highlighted the strong sense of community the team fostered.
"This year, the team has grown really close. We’ve bonded throughout the season, supporting each other every step of the way. We encouraged one another with positive affirmations and a lot of motivational talks to keep everyone’s confidence high."
