Veterans Memorial cheer team, drill team and drumline were showing their school spirit Wednesday evening as they welcomed community members, parents, district staff and elected officials to Creekside Elementary School, the newest addition to the district.
Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez expressed his gratitude to the community and the project team.
"We are so grateful to the Bond 2020 voters for making this project possible," he said. "As you reflect on this celebration, I hope you will remember that CCISD is committed to every student."
Creekside Elementary is designed to provide an engaging and enriching learning environment for students and staff, including its contemporary design, and natural lighting.
Principal Christa Rasche expressed her excitement and acknowledged community support and staff dedication.
"I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to embark on this new chapter with the amazing Shark family we have built over the summer," she said, referring to the school’s mascot. "Students, I encourage you to look around and see the potential within these walls. This is a place where friendships will happen, you'll be exposed to new ideas, and you'll be guided by dedicated teachers and staff who are excited to help you reach your full potential."
CCISD will welcome students for the first day of school on Monday, Aug. 12.
