Corpus Christi ISD has named Stevie Rae Garcia principal of the district’s newest middle school.
Garcia is currently the principal of Kostoryz Elementary School, where she previously served as the school’s assistant principal.
Garcia earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Science in Educational Administration, both from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
Additionally, she has experience teaching and supporting teachers through curriculum writing.
“Mrs. Garcia is an excellent example of the leadership pipeline we have developed and continue to hone in CCISD,” said Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez. “We look forward to her leadership and know she will bring a passion for excellence in establishing the new middle school.”
Garcia will remain at Kostoryz through the end of the 2024-2025 school year.
The new school is scheduled to open in August 2025. The district recently asked the community for suggestions for the new school’s name, which will be discussed during a future board meeting.
CCISD schools and offices will be closed Nov. 25-29 for the annual Thanksgiving Break.

Please see below for the 2025 graduation schedule. 🎓

Corpus Christi ISD has achieved a Superior Achievement Rating for the 22nd consecutive year by Schools FIRST, a Texas financial accountability system.
This is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. The district’s score was 96 out of 100, resulting in an “A” rating. The rating was announced during the Oct. 28 Board of Trustees meeting.
The primary goal of Schools FIRST is to achieve quality performance in the management of school districts’ financial resources. This is the 22nd year of Schools FIRST, and with the district earning a Superior Achievement Rating each year.
“We are so proud of this achievement,” Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez said. “This is representative of the hard work and dedication in our district. We are honored to receive this rating for the 22nd consecutive year.”

For more information on Bond 2024, visit www.ccisd.us/page/bond.
In accordance with state legislation passed in 2019, all Texas public school districts are required by law to include the sentence on all bond proposals, regardless of whether the bond would affect the district’s tax rate. Bond 2024 will not increase the Corpus Christi ISD’s tax rate.
